How to transport Fridge

Many a times I get call that customer want's to transport a Refrigerator from one area e.g. from Churchgate to another area e.g. Thane.  If you are looking for transportation of upright fridge  then you must read this blog.

Take out all the food items drain all ice, remove all detachable container, glass shelves, every thing else that can be taken apart from the mane body,keep a corrugated box inside the freezer and then lock the fridge tape it's door. use carton Boxes to pack it.

First and Most Important thing to do is keep your fridge OFF for 24 Hrs before and after transportation. 

you may wonder why so?

Because the oil in the refrigerator's compressor will drains out while transportation and go into the tubing. if you turn ON the Fridge before the compressor oil drains back into the compressor, then the compressor will seize up from lack of lubrication.  24 (twenty four hours) is a good rule of thumb. longer will give you more assurance.

Transport Service on Share basis

I started with posting my first advertisement on OLX

It was great idea to provide transport service on share basis to Customers.  As it is cheaper for Customers, compared to stand alone transport. Because every transporter charges his Customers for both ways from point A to Point B and again from point B to Point A.

But in case of share transport service, if I spend Rs. 1000/-  on expenses , I will charge only 500/- to one party going from point A to Point B and 500/- to other party coming from point B to Point A.

The response I got was amazing,  till now nearly  1000 people have visited my adv. on OLX, 

many of them have saved my mob number 9870636922 for future reference.

However I made only  25 Rupees of profit on that Job

there were 2 parties involved in this deal

one party from Kandivali for King size BED  and other party from Vikroli for 3+2 sofa set

when we reached  Andheri to pick up King size bed, the 1st problem which we faced was that the Bed was huge (6x7), it was old and all joints were tightly fitted into one another.  It took us 2 Hrs. Yes that's correct 2 hrs to dismantle that bed.  If my men would have not dismantled that bed I could have run in to losses on that day.  thank GOD no such thing happened.

that day I learned:

1) Furniture needs to be dismantle by a professional Carpenter. 

2) If I blow up the first deal then  I blow up all the subsequent deals.

I came to know that no matter how great this idea of share transport seems, 

Its not going to work.  There are at least 2 parties involved in the share transport. If 1st party cancels the deal, then it becomes hard for me to provide my service to 2nd party alone. As I have already quoted 2nd party a lower price than my cost.

not only I the transport provider suffers the losses  but also I break the trust of 2nd dependent party.

Therefore I immediately changed the title of my advertisement on the very next day.

5. Floor Number of  both buildings form where the item is to be Loaded and unloaded. 
6. Number of  Helper men required for loading and unloading the furniture.
7. Please note lifting of heavy furniture requires 2 to 4 persons for carrying it through stairs and its loading and Unloading in the Vehicle.  If you require Porter / Helpermen/labormen from us then the Charges will Rs. 300/500/ 1000/- Per Person, Charges depends on the JOB and number  of items to be loaded and their seize & weight.
8. If  your furniture  is  Lightweight then you may make the arrangements from your side.
9. In your e-mail attach photos of goods or furniture and mention all details regarding transportation such as details of furniture's size, weight, height  whether it can be dismantle or not Whether Furniture can be Fitted in Lift or Not   or there is service lift is available or not,  is there enough space in Stairway to turnaround the furniture etc.
